Photographing Willigan XIX Under the Spotlight

By Jennifer Friede

Wrestlers competing during Willigan XIX at the Indiana School for the Deaf.

Christopher Cassel, chair of Willigan XIX and wrestling coach at the Indiana School for the Deaf, asked me to photograph the tournament.

Willigan XIX took place at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis. The championship round was one of the most memorable parts of the tournament.

The gym lights were turned off, and a single spotlight shined down on the wrestling mat. It created an amazing atmosphere, but it was also challenging to photograph with so little light.

The finished photos were shared online, where people could view and purchase them digitally.
